Using the diagram for the Rhodesian Ridgeback standard, Caesar begins to sculpt the dog from three fused blocks of "Chavant NSF hard clay".

Caesar visited the local dog show (mission circuit - Pomona Fairplex) over the memorial weekend and took a few images of the ridgebacks being shown.

The sculpture is about halfway completed. Caesar will sleep on it and revisit the piece the following day to see if he is still satisfied with the proportions of the sculpture.

Spending too many hours on the same piece can cloud ones judgment/perspective; therefore, putting the work away and revisiting the task later will allow you to locate flaws.

Different angles of the ridgeback. On the next session, Caesar will correct proportion flaws, work on the head, add muscle tone and work on the paws.

Note, our bronze sculptures are true bronze, cast in
the traditional lost-wax method - not “cold-cast bronze”, which is a resin blend.
