The mother mold is situated around the sculpture. Making sure the sculpture and mother mold line up correctly over the pattern drawn on the board. The wire fox terrier is glued to the board with epoxy in order to secure the sculpture.

Here the clay sculpture is housed within the plaster mother mold. Nuts and bolts (1/4") are used to hold the mother mold in place.

Wax is brushed on any opening that may allow the silicone rubber to escape. The image on the right show the mother mold fully filled with the silicone rubber.

During the de-molding the mother mold broke; therefore, a new mother mold needs to be fabricated. The two images above show what the mold looks like without the mother mold. The mother mold is the white plaster housing used to contain the rubber/silicone and sculpture. The clear plastic bubble strips are used to create keys on the mother mold.
