The scene will depict three Rhodesian Ridgebacks as they seek out a full-grown Lion. The image on the left is a rough rendering of the work in progress. The scene is subject to change slightly as the sculpture advances.
In the earlier parts of its history, the Rhodesian Ridgeback has also been known as Van Rooyen's Lion Dogs, the African Lion Hound or African Lion Dog—Simba Inja in Ndebele, Shumba Imbwa in Shona—because of their ability to harass a lion and keep it at bay while awaiting their master to make the kill.

The scene will depict four English Bulldogs attacking a bull. The image on the left is a rough rendering of the work in progress. The scene is subject to change slightly as the sculpture advances.
In the 1600s, bulldogs were used for bullbaiting (as well as bearbaiting), a wagering sport popular in the 17th century in which trained bulldogs leapt at a bull lashed to a post, latched onto its snout and attempted to suffocate it.

Wire Fox Terrier

The wire fox terrier in a sitting pose with its head slightly cocked to the left.
The Wire-Haired Fox Terrier was developed in England by fox hunting enthusiasts and is believed descended from a now-extinct rough-coated, black-and-tan working terrier of Wales, Derbyshire, and Durham. The breed was also believed to have been bred to chase foxes into their burrows underground, and their short, strong, usually docked, tails were used handles by the hunter to pull them back out.

Koi - Nishikigoi Sculpture
Estimated Price: $.00 USD
(estimated release 2008)
To order contact artist
The koi setting may encompass two or three koi and a frog leaping from a lilly pad. (rough concept... subject to change)
Koi or more specifically nishikigoi , literally "brocaded carp", are ornamental domesticated varieties of the common carp Cyprinus carpio. They are believed to have originated from Eastern Asia, Aral, Black and Caspian Seas. Earliest records of Koi have been found in China and have been widely spread in Japan. The ornamental cultivation of carp flourished under the Chinese Qing Dynasty and Japanese Edo Period. They are very closely related to goldfish and, in fact, the style of breeding and ornamentation has become very similar, probably through the efforts of Japanese breeders to emulate goldfish. Koi and tattoos of koi are traditionally considered lucky.

I was inspired to commence this composition after viewing an animal plant's recap of 2007. There is viewed a brief segment of an African lion hugging and kissing the woman that saved him from a traveling circus. The lion's name is Jupiter and he lives in Columbia.
Ana Julia Torres, who runs the Villa Lorena animal shelter in Cali, fed and nursed Jupiter the African lion back to health years ago after it was found abused and emaciated in a traveling circus.
The image on the left is not Jupiter, but of a majestic lion, I was able to use digital software to piece together.
If you are interested in this bronze, please notify me via an email. I need to know if there is an interest in life-size wildlife art... handsofcaesar@gmail.com

Note, our bronze sculptures are true bronze, cast in
the traditional lost-wax method - not “cold-cast bronze”, which is a resin blend. |
